Kpanlogo |
Ozi Ozaa Kpanlogo Drums have one major difference to their ancestral counterparts. We have replaced the traditional Tuning Pegs with a Djembe style Rope Tuning mechanism. The traditional style peg tuned drums look beautiful but aren't practical for gigging on the road all the time. They can be vunerable to damage, distune easily and are generally harder to transport. By using the rope tuning system, the drums hold their tuning and don’t get damaged in transit. All of our Kpanlogo Drums are designed by Master Drummer Yaw Asumadu and are hand carved in Ghana by our Master Drum Maker Jibril Kudjoe Kponyo. Like the Djembe they feature our †recessed lower hoop. This step holds the hoop securely which in turn maintains a balanced tuning and prolongs the life of the drum. Together with quality ropes and skins sourced from across Ghana, we take pride in each stage of construction to bring you a Kpanlogo Drum that will last and give you many years of enjoyment. For the Ozi Ozaa Kpanlogo we use Antelope or Deer skin. An altogether softer and more flexible skin which produces rich melodic tones without the height and edge reserved for solo instruments such as the Djembe. These drums have a larger surface area than the Djembe so come fully hand carved in various stunning artwork. |
