Ozi Ozaa can provide fun and entertaining musical experiences for children from Pre-School to Junior School age.  We provide music making for all kinds of cultural events and can provide a workshop for your children, which is energetic, exciting, and hands on.
Your children will talk about their experiences for months.

Our team can tailor a workshop to your schools requirements, be it for a class or year
group learning about African or World music, or as a treat for the whole school giving each individual the chance to experience the feeling of making music together.

Workshops can be an
excellent accompaniment
to your regular
curriculum, combining
these crucial aspects
from Key Stage 1 & 2

- Rhythm, Pitch and Tempo
- Singing & Basic Composition Skills
- Performing, and working as a group.

give children a sense of pride with
       their achievements…… some of these
       children are now behaving better

Ozi Ozaa can provide classes to enrich these young people through Key Stage 3,
G.C.S.E, A Level, and University studies.

There is a great variety of possibilities available to you when planning sessions with our team.
As with any Ozi Ozaa event, the classes can be tailored to your exact curriculum or study theme.

Below are some of the areas you may wish to be woven into their workshop.
These details and others can be discussed with our team in order for you and your students
to gain the most from their experience.

Composition & Arranging

Composition requires that all important piece of inspiration which may come from the likes of the West African Balafon or Brazilian Repinique for example. What ever instrument and style of music a student is influenced by, our team offer guidance and practical advice on building a composition from the ground up, or showing students how to adapt a theme and arrange it for a performance.

All the musicians at Ozi Ozaa have had long and varied careers of performing live to both small venues, and vast arenas across Europe and around the world. These combined years of experience can be a great asset to students preparing for exams or planning recitals. Students can learn how to sell a piece of music to an audience, and develop their ensemble playing, or simply conquering those first night nerves.

Music Clubs & Bands

Ozi Ozaa has seen some of its most rewarding student projects stem from longer series of workshops where students have performance as a goal such as a local festival or fair. Most recent collaberations with African Bantu Youth Project in Dagenham, East London and Local Primary Schools in South London have proven very successful both with the students and their parents.

We can offer advanced sessions for the more experienced musician wanting a new challenge or to improve their repertoire. Students working towards A Level or University studies may wish to take inspiration from a Master Drummer and Ozi Ozaa’s world musicians.

Any of our workshops can be run as stand-alone events, or as a course to progress along side a students’ regular study program, during or in-between term time.

Led by Yaw Asumadu and Rob Navratil, all the
participants found the session challenging and
fun. The resulting composition, ground out of dedication and
commitment,  was an exhilarating performance by the students,
allowing all members of the year to participate
             enthusiastically in this event.

Special Educational Needs (SEN) & Music Therapy

In their combined years of teaching, Ozi Ozaa's musicians have enjoyed some of their most rewarding workshops and performances working with both young people and adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN). With such varying abilities both musically and physically, the challenge of running workshops is something we relish. Ozi Ozaa can provide training courses for teachers and carers who have some musical instruments but are unsure how to draw the most out of them and their young people. See our Teaching Aids & Training Courses page for more details.

Pamela Wilson writing for Bella Online best describes the importance of music education and SEN. She writes..

quote1

The importance of music education and resources for music therapy are sometimes overlooked for students in special education and others with special needs. To see, hear and play musical instruments at school or in community programs is as important for each child in this generation as it has always been. Opportunities open up new avenues for individuals to show their talent and ability in performing as well as appreciation as an audience for other people's performances.

Children with disabilities have the same need to express themselves through music and art as their mainstream peers. Like everyone else, they may be able to express more through art than they communicate through words, and it may be more likely that they will be 'heard.'
